Freestanding Bathtub
Freestanding bathtubs are once again in style. In history, all bathtubs were freestanding.
As time moved forward, built-ins became the next desired style. But as with most things,
history is repeating itself and it even applies to our bathroom fixtures.
A freestanding bathtub is simply that; a bathtub that supports itself. It is not attached to
any walls for support but rather stands on its own. Whether it supports itself on a base or
with feet, the freestanding bathtub relies on its own structure.
Freestanding Bathtubs are more than just clawed foot tubs
Most people immediately think of the classic, traditional claw foot tubs when they hear the
term "freestanding bathtubs." The image of the large, deep round rimmed tub with four claw
feet standing in the middle of the bathroom comes to mind. But freestanding bathtubs can
come in any shape, size and style.
Freestanding bathtubs can be as ultramodern as they can be traditional. Claw foot tubs are
still very popular versions of freestanding tubs, but other styles can be found as well.
Contemporary designs of all kinds are surfacing in the market. There are even round, square,
rectangle and oddly shaped freestanding bathtubs.
